About Sharon C Fergusson

Sharon C Fergusson is an artist, author, illustrator, designer, interior designer, and singer songwriter living rurally in Whangateau, North of Auckland.

Born and raised in NZ, self-taught artist Sharon has created numerous commissioned artworks including illustrations, paintings, murals & mosaics for corporate, residential & commercial clients in New Zealand & abroad.

Creative writing has also been part of Sharon's artist journey, she amassed many poems, stories and song lyrics over the years. But it wasn't until 2021 during lockdown that she felt brave enough to put her writing out there, unbeknown to friends and family entering a short story into the NZ Writers College 2021 Annual Short Story Competition. She was awarded an honorable mention for her manuscript 'Because', spurring her on with more writing.

Sharon's journey into publishing her children's picture books began in 2023 following the loss of her family's beloved 17 year old dog Toby. Processing her grief led her to re-evaluate some life goals, one of which had been to write and illustrate children's books.

Recently Sharon's rhythmic rhyming children's story writing was acknowledged when she was shortlisted in the Storylines 2025 Joy Cowley Award for an unpublished manuscript.
